Audubon Louisiana Nature Center is a treasured community resource. The Nature Center lies beside to Joe Brown Park in New Orleans East on 86 acres of hardwood bottomland forest, about a 20-minute drive outside of downtown New Orleans, its development was a project of the Junior League of Greater New Orleans, opening March 23, 1980. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina flooded the Nature Center premises, basically damaging the facility however Audubon moved on with the rebuilding process.
